ONE
Today I chose a new walking route and walked on a path that I have never taken before. I walked with my mum. We went to the post-office. The path led through a park and passed countless buildings, most of which were inconspicuous though obviously loved. I liked seeing discarded bikes and toys in front yards; bottles and a make-shift ashtray; a gumboot (just one) and waders; random bits and pieces that quietly let us know who it is that lives beyond the garden and under the roof.
We passed only two others on our path: one, an old man with an old bowler hat (amaze). The other was an older man with a limp and a cane.
They both smiled.
