We Run Free
Years
spent waiting collide with a split second decision to grab that opportunity,
take that cosmic hand-out and live life exactly how you like.
Hours
in cramped aeroplane seats, flying over seas and time zones and date lines.
Hands held tightly through antihistamine-induced sleep. Smiles exchanged and excitement
expressed through jet lagged eyes in a place that could be another world.
Highways
and concrete and neon signs and trucks. Desert country where cacti grow wild
and free, where bulls are provoked and ridden, where one star dominates the
land.
And
suddenly, dreams are realised. A humble soul is shown the reward of goodness
and patience. Through pain, a masterpiece is born.
Well
deserved drinks in an open-air bar. Dirt for floor, fairy lights in trees,
we’re told they only get 6 weeks of winter.
Dancing
to the sound of live instruments but mostly to the steady beat of our own drum
followed by mornings revelling in the power of sleep.
Adventures
shared and places explored amid the realisation that someone should probably
say yolo.
More
highways, more concrete, more maps. Back into crammed seats, silently thanking
the universe and one another for saying yes, for being there, for letting us
have what we have.
Long
distances travelled by the seat of our pants: to fulfil goals, to gain
perspective, to come closer to the truth.
Long
distances travelled brought you closer to me.
Long
distances travelled brought me closer to you.
