K k
Each morning I wake up and check the time zones on my phone.
Madrid, Paris, London, New York, Anchorage, Bogota, Tel Aviv, Bangkok and now as an added bonus, Colombo.
Each one is linked to a loved one spreading their wings and adventuring over the seas.
Each one is different.
Each one has their own exciting story.
Each one is another reason I don’t get to sleep till 2am most nights.
Along with checking the time zones, each morning I check the various ways in which we communicate with each other.
Email, FB, whatsapp, kik, Skype, blogs and my all time favourite, the mail box in front of my house.
The time zones and these apps connect us together and make the distance seem so much smaller.
Although it is 9:30 am here, and 11:30 pm (yesterday) in Madrid, I can still hear Vicki breaking open that second bottle of wine and clinking the glasses together. And the sea that separates us has the illusion of being all but a puddle.
Time zones may be all about distinction and borders and all things distant, but the simple act of knowing the difference creates a link that stretches far and wide.
And somehow, through distance of both time and space, I can receive wishes of joy, love and laughter for the New Year from my darling fam bam as though we were all in the same room.
Life really is quite bliss.
Happy and safe travels my beautiful people.
I cannot express how proud you all make me. Get lost, make friends, eat lots, run far, watch for detail, do not judge, be AMAZED and may you all find what you are looking for.
